Sometime in December 2006, Kyushu University put together a heavily-subsidized tour for the all the exchange students. With just 2000yen (S$27), the package on offer included a 2 day 1 night tour of Oita and Kumamoto prefecture, including various visits to:
1) Beer Forest Sapporo (Factory which makes Sapporo Beer, one of the big 3 beers in Japan)
2) Kusasenri Region in Aso (Kumamoto)
3) A stay at one of Aso's top hotel resorts, Aso Farm Village, strategically situated within the mountain ranges of Aso
4) A visit to a Wine Factory (Food Pal Kumamoto)
5) Tour of the Kumamoto Castle grounds (which I previously refused to pay entrance fees for)
6) Endless buffet lunches and dinner (Yum)
That being said, here are the pictures! :
The LLM + 1 extra exchange student's toast with all-you-can-drink-within-the-space-of-10mins-beer (being the kiasu Singaporean that I am, I had 4) 乾杯！４本後、ちょっと酔っ払ったままで工場から出て行ったけれど、とても価値があるの経験だったぜ！

Here I am eating Kumamoto ice-cream, made from one of the finest dairy milk in the whole of Japan. Creamy....

The horde of exchange students descending upon Aso Farm Land
In Lord of the Rings style, the Hobbit-esque accomodation of Aso Farm Land.
Even Goldilocks would be proud...
The onsen (hotspring) facility within the Hotel that I got to enjoy. More than 15 varieties of baths; lime flavoured, purple-coloured, stone-bed baths, steam baths, baths in an ultra-violet lighted enclosure amongst others.

The morning after; fog/mist covered landscape makes for a very surreal atmosphere.

Umbrella in hand: Am I fit to guard Kumamoto Castle? The guards seem to welcome that prospect.

Next, pictures of the Mochi ("Japanese Rice Cakes") Making Festival held at my friend's dorm the following Saturday.
